Why the religious persecution, S.C.?
[found these notes on my blackberry from early December, and I'd forgotten to post them]

Sushi Customer: Did you have Santa Claus in Japan when you were young?
Sushi Chef: Not when I was really young, but when I got older, I heard about him. "Hey mom!" I asked. "You think Santa Claus might bring anything to me?" She said, "No, we're Shinto." I said, "Damn."
Sushi Customer: But they do have Christmas in Japan?
Sushi Chef: Eh, kind of. Christmas is more of a kissy kissy huggy huggy with the girlfriend kind of holiday there. You know?
Sushi Customer: Uh.
Sushi Chef: Like, for teenagers?
Sushi Customer: Hm.
Sushi Chef: Nevermind.
